What to Drink: Craft Beer at Welton Arms

Kelowna is experiencing a craft brewery boom and it is terrific! One of the latest to join the boom is Welton Arms.

Welton Arms is an english style brewery serving up classic English pub food and beer.

Located in a recently redeveloped area of Kelowna Welton Arms is located along Clement Avenue. Other new breweries (The Office, Unleased and Bad Tattoo) are also along this same area making it a great option for a walkable brewery tour.

Like many Canadians I spent sometime in England, eventually working in London for just under a year, one of my favourite memories of that time was spending hours with a pint in one of the local pubs. Our visit to Welton Arms certainly brought back those memories.

I can definitely see this a favourite stop for my husband and I during the fall and winter. The atmosphere was warm and had some nice classic touches – like wooden booths – comfortable but not too comfortable. The booths were also huge, so you could easily take a group of friends, grab some beer and food and watch football (aka soccer in this part of the world). Don’t get me wrong – it’s great in the summer too, we just like taking advantage of being a local and heading to amazing local place in the off season when there are less tourists!

Welton Arms is easy to bike to, take the Rail Trail cut off just behind the Sun Rype Building. Bike racks are available at the front (along Clement). Parking for vehicles is at the back of the pub, there’s a good sized lot so you shouldn’t have any issues. Avoid parking on the other side of Clement and running across the road. It’s four lanes and drivers aren’t really expecting to be part of a real life Frogger game.

While you are in the area other places to check out: Rustic Reel, Vice and Virtue, Red Bird, Kettle River. BC Tree Fruits and Percival & Young (cheese mongers) for a snack!
