I was talking to someone about places to have High Tea in Kelowna recently and I realized I hadn’t written about my awesome Birthday Tea.
Way back in February I decided that I needed to do something different for my birthday. Covid made things challenging so I decided my daughter would take me out for High Tea. We booked in for an afternoon tea at Summerhill and it did not disappoint.
This was my first experience with tea, so I had no idea what to expect. Booking is all done online, through the Summerhill Bistro Site. Their booking system is super easy – pick a date, select how many people and pay online.
Each member of the party gets a glass of the Summerhill’s sparkling wine to kick things off, if your party includes under aged or non drinking members they can choose juice instead (or donate their glass to you!). Each member also chooses their own tea – and gets an entire pot of tea (I thought we would be sharing because a pot, is a lot of tea). I loved being able to choose different teas though, we both got to choose the one that we wanted, and then could try the other tea.
After that the fun begins – the food. I had no idea that such tiny things could be so filling! A three tiered tea tray came out with a selection of sandwiches, pastries and cakes (plus macarons). I think our favorites were the sandwiches and the scones. I would actually just order those if I could!
The bistro has a beautiful view of the lake and I imagine in the summer you would also be able to see the vines from the bistro as well.
I would recommend this experience for a girls afternoon (have tea and then do a tasting and visit a few of the near by wineries), or a nice mom/daughter afternoon.
